What Sets Bora Bora Apart

Bora Bora has a lot to offer visitors. The following reasons set it aside from other destinations and make it a dream location for many.

Bora Bora Events

You might be able to plan your visit around one of the great events that happen throughout the year in Bora Bora, which includes the following:

Tahiti Pearl Regatta

An average of thirty ships, both domestic and foreign, compete in the four-day, Tahiti Pearl Regatta which takes place in and out of the many islands and lagoons that surround this breathtaking and diverse sailing region.

The regatta course varies from year to year, although it passes through a number of locations in the Leeward Islands. In this tropical area, the trade winds originate in the east and often reach speeds of 10 to 15 knots, while gusts of 25 to 30 mph have been recorded.

The Tahiti Pearl Regatta is a popular event for sailors who want to improve their racing skills because race distances rarely surpass 20 nautical miles (apart from two open-ocean passages). In 2026, the race will run from 23-29 May, 2026.

Celebrations are held in the evening with music, dancing, and BBQs.

Bora Bora Liquid Festival

With a background more closely linked to Roland Garros than waterways, Stephan Lambert is the organizer of the Bora Bora Liquid Festival, which has been going on for 14 years. Every December, Bora Bora celebrates the natural beauty of the islands and the athleticism of its locals with parties and activities held over a few days.

In the most stunning lagoon in the world, the event features both traditional and contemporary Polynesian water sport disciplines, bringing together some of the top male and female athletes in the world. Contests in sailing outriggers, single-man outrigger canoes, surf-skis, stand-up paddling (SUP), swimming, and, of course, happy hour are examples of liquid events.

Before the event's outrigger canoe race and running start, competitors line up. Then, there's an image at the swim-SUP race transition, and the girl in the picture was really second out of the water!

Heiva I Bora Bora

Tahiti's most powerful declaration of their rich history and culture is the Heiva. Through dance, song, and other cultural events, it's a month-long celebration of joy that provides insight into Polynesian history, culture, and daily living. One of the best events in the world is the Heiva I Bora Bora Festival. There isn't much, if anything, left to help tourists realize how they can take part in and benefit from the culturally enriching experience that comes with seeing a Heiva, except than a brief Calendar of Events.

Held in either July or August, Heiva I Bora Bora features a carnival-like atmosphere with sports, crafts, dancing, and celebrations. Traditionally a war ritual, it is now seen as a way to celebrate life.
