Doch sie sehnt sich nach „echten“ Menschen und kann es kaum erwarten, ihre Bekanntschaft zu machen. An ihrem 15. Geburtstag darf sie zum ersten Mal zur Wasseroberfläche emporschwimmen. Die kleine Meerjungfrau beobachtet, wie das Schiff eines jungen Prinzen in Seenot gerät. Sie rettet ihm das Leben und verliebt sich in ihn. Doch kann sie mit ihm, einem Menschen aus Fleisch und Blut, glücklich werden? Und was hat es eigentlich mit der Meerhexe auf sich?
